We provide a social meeting place for those affected by mental health issues. A safe haven away from the stresses and strains of everyday life. This could be family, friends, carers or the person experiencing such problems.
We are a friendly bunch of people and would love to welcome you to our club. We meet once a week for two hours. There are crafts from time to time such as card making, knitting, crochet and more with products being sold to raise much needed funds. We have quizzes, karaoke, music bingo from time to time too. There's a pool table, mostly used by the men. There's obligatory mugs of tea or coffee and cake on members’ birthdays, not to be missed!
We aim to provide stimulating activities along with social interaction between our members and guests.
We aim to provide information and help put our members and guests in touch with the correct agencies for any help they may need.
We aim to work in conjunction with South Lanarkshire Council, NHS Lanarkshire and other agencies to promote mental health wellbeing.
We aim to improve quality of life and enhance the self-esteem of our members and guests, as well as promote equality of opportunity for all.
We are a warm, friendly and welcoming group of people who care. Because we are peers, we are able to understand and empathise with problems that can result as an effect of poor mental health. There’s always someone to have a quiet chat with if necessary, though none of us are there in a professional capacity. We are simply peers helping peers.
Gina and Fiona have Mental Health First Aid, safeTALK and ASIST Certificates.
Why not drop in sometime? We would love to meet you and welcome you to our Club. Tuesday 1.30 - 3.30 pm
The committee are kept busy seeking sources of interest for our members and of course seeking the funds to carry them out. They work hard to keep the Club firmly established and provide good social opportunities for all of our members.
They have arranged celebratory dinners at Christmas Time and other times of the year when needing a bit of a boost. They have organised trips to various places like Edinburgh Zoo, Rothesay, New Lanark, Brodick, Ayr, Largs, The Falkirk Wheel and Callendar House, a tour round BBC Scotland Studios a sail on PS Waverley and Riverside Museum.
Speakers have been arranged and have come from Police Scotland, the Fire Service and more.
